Items we accept and do not accept

CONSIGNMENT FAQ
Q: When can I bring in consignment?
We accept consignment seven days a week. We accept items on a drop-off basis, no appointment necessary. However, for large amounts of consignment (more than 4 grocery bags) please call us to schedule an appointment.

Q. What happens when I bring my consignment in?
We will set up an account for you in our database, we will label all your bags and give you a consignment contract to fill out. If you prefer, you can view/complete our consignor agreement prior to coming in. The agreement can be downloaded here. While you shop, we will go through your drop-off. We will let you know which items we feel have a good chance of selling. The items we do not accept will be returned to you AT THE TIME OF DROP OFF, or you may choose to have us donate the returned items. The items we accept for consignment will be entered into your account and put out on the sales floor.

Consignment that has not sold by the end of the five week consignment period will be donated. UNSOLD CLOTHING, TOYS AND BOOKS WILL NOT BE RETURNED TO CONSIGNORS.

Q. Do you accept charitable donations?
Yes! Any items that you bring in that we do not accept for consignment can be donated to a charitable organization on your behalf. We accept donations at any time. Our donation room is made available to non-profit organizations that benefit low income and single parent families. If you have an organization that you know could use our donations, please let us know! feedback@chloescloset.com.

Q. How long does it take for my consignment to be made available for sale?
In most cases it will be 1-5 days, depending on the amount of consignment that is currently being processed.

Q. How much money do I receive for my consignment?
Consignors may receive 40% of our selling price by check or 50% in store credit. For example, if an item sells for $1.00, you will receive 40 cents by check or 50 cents in store credit. In either case, no payment is received until after an item sells. Checks are mailed out quarterly for any merchandise sold within that time period (since your last check). Minimum amount of checks is $10, and balances under $10 will roll over to the month. All consignment checks will have a $1.50 mailing fee deducted from the amount. Store credit accumulates as items sell, and remains in the consignor's account until applied toward a purchase. The consignment period is 5 weeks. If the merchandise has not sold after 5 weeks, it will be removed from the sales floor and donated. *Please note: Merchandise may be reduced in price at the discretion of Chloe's Closet, typically due to the item not selling in a reasonable time period.

Q. How do you price consignment?
*We will generally price clothing at around 60-80% off the retail price depending on the condition. Gear will go for closer to 30-60% off the retail price. We constantly check online for retail prices and use the lowest advertised price as our base. Once items are accepted for consignment, Chloe's Closet reserves the right to price and sell or reject those items based on our assessment of the value of the item to our shoppers.
*All consignment is subject to an item fee at the time of sale. The item fee is added to the price and is paid by the buyer of the item. This fee goes to help cover the costs involved in processing consignment. For items under $10, the item fee is $1. For all items over $10, the item fee is $2.

Q. How long is the consignment period? What happens to my stuff after the consignment period is over?
The consignment period is 5 weeks (35 days). At the end of the consignment period, UNSOLD ITEMS WILL BECOME PROPERTY OF CHLOE'S CLOSET and will be given to needy families or donated to a local non-profit charity.
